Understanding the generation of wear particles in cold rolling processes

In this paper, the influence of rolling parameters on generation wear particles is studied experimentally using a pilot scale mill. Further, multi-scale model proposed to predict amount generated in cold processes operating under boundary lubrication. Rolling experiments revealed that thickness reduction and roll roughness are two dominant process control processes. Analysis size distribution showed most less than 5 ?m diameter. The captures trend correctly give values same order magnitude as terms volume generated. • A new developed combines mechanisms at microscale contact macroscale. Most smaller ?m. Model experimental results good agreement volume. Wear formation lubricated increases with roughness.
